To ensure lasting pleasure: correct care keeps your leather beautiful.
Leather is by nature relatively easy to look after. As a rule, this property is reinforced by the high quality of de Sede leather, which contains valuable fats and impregnating agents. Nevertheless, a little care can do a lot to prolong the life and the attractiveness of leather furniture. This is helped greatly by the perfect balance of the products contained in the de Sede leather-care set, which is available from furniture dealers.
Regular cleaning: Dust regularly with a soft, slightly moist cloth. Important: do not use microfibre cleaning cloths! Wipe two to three times a year with luke-warm, clear water in order to remove the dust from the pores and to moisten the leather. Avoid rubbing strongly and circular movements. Treat occasionally using only products especially made by de Sede for the care of its leathers: ”Leather Softclean”, cleaning foam and ”Leather Cream”, care cream.
For soiled or heavily used areas: Use luke-warm water containing a neutral soap solution. Moisten a soft cloth with this solution, wring it out well and wipe softly over a fairly large area. If the stains do not disappear, do not continue rubbing - they will be absorbed gradually by the leather.
Cleaning with de Sede Leather Softclean: de Sede Leather Softclean is a cleanser that has been specially developed for de Sede smooth leathers. The cleansing foam is dispensed from an environmentally-friendly pump-action foamer bottle. The cleanser contains neither solvents nor alcohol. It ensures that leather is cleaned gently, prevents it from drying out and removes all dust and small particles of dirt from its pores.
Please use as follows: Shake the bottle well before use. Moisten a sponge with water and squeeze it out, then spray the de Sede Leather Softclean onto the sponge and apply it to the leather over a large surface making sure not to press too hard. Clean one area after another. Only when the leather is completely dry again, should you treat your furniture with de Sede Leather Cream. de Sede Leather Softclean has been formulated for use with all kinds of smooth leather. In the case of leathers that are not from de Sede, you should first try out the cleanser on an area that cannot be seen.
Impregnating and caring for furniture with de Sede Leather Cream: This is a leather-care cream containing an additional top-quality impregnating agent that has been specially developed for de Sede leather. de Sede Leather Cream provides leather with moisture, keeps it soft and supple, ensures that its colour remains intense and protects it against dirt each time you apply it.
Please use as follows: de Sede Leather Cream should be used after the leather has been cleaned with de Sede Leather Softclean (allow the leather to dry properly first). Shake the bottle well, pour several drops onto a soft cloth (never apply direct to the leather) and rub it gently into the leather. In the case of leathers that are not from de Sede, try it out on a surface that cannot be seen to make sure that it is suitable. Apply the cream to the leather over a large area in a circular motion from seam to seam.
Do not rub too hard. Caution: Keep the product well away from children and ensure that it is not swallowed. Wash your hands well after use. Avoid all contact with the eyes.
Useful hints: Real leather stretches with use. The resulting folds are characteristic of leather and give the furniture an attractive surface. Each leather responds individually to dying. The result is slightly different colour shading as not all parts of the hide absorb the same amount of dye. To retain the beauty and exceptional appeal of your de Sede leather for many years to come, please note the following: excessive heat causes the leather to dry out in places and become cracked and brittle. For this reason place the furniture at least 40 cm away from radiators. As with all natural products, the colour of leather is also subject to change due to sunlight. Therefore protect the furniture from direct sunlight and other bright light.
